Fibbers is still doing well. To me, it really wasn't that long ago that Thunderbird sold and Fritz is doing well there. Now the former owner (Jason) owns Timbers.
But the "real recent" sales remain to be seen.
With the prices of some of the establishments up for sale currently, it will be tough to make a go of it. If you could really afford them, your money would be better spent with a higher return elsewhere. If you finance with little money down, you will barely make your payments during busy parts of the season while during the off seasons, you'll have to rob peter to pay paul to make it. If Peter doesn't have anything to rob, then your screwed.
Murmuring shows good books, but you'll still be working the first 3 weeks of a month - just to make the payment. They have great local business during the off seasons but anyone that buys it will more than likely drastically raise the prices - hence - goodbye great local business. _________________ ______________________________________________________________________________

Wasn't it around 04 when Fritz took over T-bird? I heard that Jason, agreed to a non-compete clause for several years? He is who Fritz bought from isn't he? _________________ I like |

Fritz often visits many other establishments and shows his support to others. I think it is a good business move. I plan to visit Timbers as when it was the old place (Name I know.. but left my fingers as I typed).. the owner wasn't that nice.. to me anyway..
More on "Murm" Patty and Rich have had that place for a long time. It's funny the history. Even though someone can run a business well, doesn't mean anyone can. And the proof is in the pudding. Go back 25 years.. the Worthen's owned it and all the cabins. They had that place for a long time.. and did well. They sold it I think 2 different times, and got it back due to lack of being able to pay the mortgage. Then the Adamski's bought it. They had it for several years and did alright. I just don't think they were up for the bar business (most people aren't.. it may look easy, but it is a LOT of hours). They(I believe) sold it to at least 2 others (maybe 3) and got it back due to not making the payments. Then Patty and Rich bought it. I Bet it has been 15 years now they have had it..
So, from this, I would say, about 1 in 3 can make a "turn key" bar in the northwoods actually stay on it's feet.
Can you tell I have been there a few times in my life.. : ) _________________ Paul |
