Temps in the upper 20s and powerful sun have degraded our trails in some areas. There are still excellent areas but the poor areas have grown to a point where I feel they only average as fair. The worst section is one of our most heavily traveled - trail 11/15 from Sayner out to the 11/15 split. Large sections have become very snirty. Some of our hills have become very slippery and difficult to navigate with the groomers when it becomes warm. So trail 11 from 70 to 4 corners and then 51 north are only being groomed when it is cold enough at night. Trail 15 through the Musky Hills is marginal in spots. Trail 10 to Eagle River is good. Trail 11 from the Musky Hills to Star Lake is excellent. Our other most heavily traveled trail - 7 from Sayner to Star Lake - is marginal and snirty in some areas.
We need some significant snow badly. It won't take much to make a big improvement.
Traffic is expected to be heavy this weekend.
Wisconsin has had 18 snowmobile fatalities this year to date. Please folks; use your heads out there and slow down. Do it for you families, friends, yourself, and your fellow riders! _________________ ______________________________________________________________________________
